First tumblr post from my Dad!
I have been drawing pretty much all of my life, but never really took it seriously until recently. In the past, most of my time was spent working. I am an engineer by education and spent a great deal of time in factories doing industrial automation. It is a job which demands long hours and a lot of travel. Now I have reached a point where my life has settled down and I have, for the most part, a job which is an eight hour a day job. My job requires a great number of meetings which at times can be a bit mind numbing. So I started to draw again. At first it was mostly doodles in meetings which were pretty simple drawings. I was mostly drawing trees. My first trees were very symmetrical and looked a lot like any grade school kid might draw, but eventually they started to kind of take on a life of their own and have become a bit more complex.
I do my art pretty much for me (to keep my sanity more than anything), and was surprised when people started telling me I needed to display it. Currently I have about 16 drawings on display at United Coffee in Sacramento, California. This a wonderful place to get a great cup of coffee and the owner, Tiffany, twisted my arm and forced me out of my comfort zone. I am pretty glad she did.
Now, my kids are making me blog. Hopefully, what I have to share will be appealing to other people. The tree above was drawn about a year and a half ago and the one directly below about a year ago. You can see the difference a little time and practice can make.
